In-Depth Product Analysis

A swatch comparison of polo shirt fabrics, including classic pique knit cotton and a sleek, modern performance polyester.

The Classic Pique Knit

The timeless choice. Pique (pronounced "pee-kay") is a double-weave fabric with a waffle-like texture. It is breathable, durable, and hides sweat marks better than flat fabrics.

  • Look: Traditional, structured, premium.
  • Feel: Substantial and airy.
  • Best For: Executive gifts and high-end uniforms.

Premium Embroidery

Embroidery is the gold standard for branding on polo shirts. The textured fabric of a polo requires the durability and dimension of thread. We use high-quality rayon threads for a sheen that lasts.

  • Durability: Will not fade, crack, or peel.
  • Precision: Tight stitch counts ensure even small text is legible.

Retail-Quality Details

We pay attention to the construction details that separate a cheap promo shirt from a favorite wardrobe item.

  • Anti-Curl Collars: Reinforced knitting to prevent the dreaded "bacon collar."
  • Taped Seams: Neck and shoulder seams are taped for comfort and durability.
  • Pearlized Buttons: High-quality buttons that won't crack in the wash.

The Ruixing Partner Advantage for Polo Sourcing

We ensure your corporate apparel meets retail standards for fit and finish.

Anti-Curl Collar Guarantee

A curling collar looks cheap. We use high-tension rib knitting and specialized fusing for our collars to ensure they stay flat and professional after washing.

Embroidery QC

Puckering is common on cheap polos. We use proper stabilizers (backing) and adjust thread tension to ensure your logo sits flat, even on lightweight performance fabrics.

Fit Consistency

We don't use random "Asian sizing." We use specific, consistent US/EU sizing blocks, so your Large fits like a true Large, every time.

Your Polo Shirt Sourcing FAQ

Direct answers to common B2B questions about sourcing corporate polos.

What is the difference between Pique and Jersey knit?+

Pique (pronounced pee-kay) has a textured, honeycomb-like weave. It is breathable, durable, and the classic choice for polos. Jersey is the smooth, flat knit used for t-shirts; it is softer and more casual but less structured.

Why is embroidery better than printing for a polo?+

Embroidery matches the premium, textured nature of the polo shirt. Screen printing can look cheap and crack on the textured pique fabric. Embroidery is more durable, professional, and perceived as higher value.

What is "performance" fabric?+

"Performance" typically refers to 100% polyester fabric that is engineered to be moisture-wicking, quick-drying, and breathable. It is the standard for golf and active work environments, as it keeps the wearer cool.

Are women's fit polo shirts available?+

Yes. We strongly recommend ordering a mix of Men's and Women's cuts. Our Women's fit features a tapered waist, shorter sleeves, and a shorter body length for a more flattering and professional silhouette.

What is "contrast tipping"?+

Contrast tipping refers to thin stripes of a different color knitted into the edge of the collar and cuffs. It's a stylish way to incorporate your brand's secondary colors for a bespoke, retail-inspired look.

Can you PMS match the fabric color?+

Yes. For orders over 1,000 pieces, we can custom-dye the fabric to your exact Pantone (PMS) color. For smaller orders, we match your color to the closest available stock fabric option.

Do the shirts shrink?+

100% Cotton shirts will naturally shrink 3-5%. To minimize this, we recommend Cotton/Poly blends or pre-shrunk cotton. Performance polyester polos do not shrink.

What is the MOQ for custom polos?+

Our standard MOQ is 500 pieces per style/color. This volume is needed for efficient cut-and-sew production. We can split sizes (e.g., S-XXL) within that quantity.

Can you do Mercerized Cotton?+

Yes. Mercerized cotton is a premium treatment that increases luster, strength, and color retention. It creates a very silky, high-end polo suitable for executive gifting. MOQ is typically higher for this fabric.

What are the washing instructions?+

We generally recommend washing in cold water and tumble drying low. For 100% cotton pique, air drying is best to prevent shrinkage. Performance polos dry very quickly and resist wrinkles.

Can you add a pocket?+

Yes. We can add a left chest pocket to any custom order. However, note that embroidery is typically done *above* the pocket, not on it, unless the pocket is sewn on after embroidery (which adds cost).

What is the lead time?+

Sampling takes 10-15 days. Mass production takes 30-40 days after sample approval. This includes fabric knitting/dyeing, cutting, embroidery, and sewing.
